Danish – Dansk

Denmark, which is one of the oldest countries in the world, was voted the happiest country on earth for the second time in 2010.

The Danish language is one of the official languages of the European Union since 1973 and the official language of Denmark with 6 million speakers. It is also spoken in many other neighbouring countries.

Its major dialects are Eastern Danish, Island Danish, and Jutlandish.  Danish was heavily influenced by German, French and English words. The bridge between Copenhagen and Sweden was completed in 2000, so Swedish might be influenced by Danish in the near future, and vice versa.
