FAQ Website Translation

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO TRANSLATE A WEBSITE?

The turnaround time for website translation itself depends on the volume, language combination and specialization you require.

I WANT MY WEBSITE TRANSLATED INTO A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE, WHERE SHOULD I START?

The process of translating a website begins earlier than one would think. It involves some preparation work. Firstly, deciding what content you want to translate. Secondly, identifying the web content to be translated and creating the source file(s) for translation. However, this has to be done on the client’s end. Indeed, only an authorized person can access the text in the backend of the website. (e.g. all steps of forms, popup windows, etc.).

WHY DO YOU NEED TO KNOW WHAT MY TARGET AUDIENCE IS?

Languages have different varieties. Therefore, it’s important to make sure you choose the language that can reach the majority of people living in the country where you want your business to be accessible from. Based on the target audience, we select experts who have experience with people living in that particular country and their cultural differences.

WHY IS IT NOT SUFFICIENT IF WE SEND YOU A LINK TO OUR WEBSITE?

Even though there is the poption where we can crawl the webpage based on the link you send us, decision making is a huge part of the website translation process. We usually base our quotes on the number of words to be translated. Therefore, if you send us a link to a very complex website, we may include everything that’s displayed on the website even though you didn’t intend for all of that content to be translated (e.g. news section, blog section, location specific data…). Vice versa, we might not be able to access all of the text, e.g. if it’s a part of a message that pops up after submitting a form.

HOW SHOULD I SUBMIT THE WEB CONTENT?

Based on our experience, the best way to go through all the translation stages smoothly is to submit a Word file where the content is stored in the form of a table. Tables enable your web administrator to match the original content to the corresponding translation. And more importantly, without him/her having to try and understand the translated language.

IN WHAT FORM CAN I EXPECT MY TRANSLATION TO BE DELIVERED?

You will receive our translation in an editable Word file where you will see the translation in a table format. The content of the source language will be in the left column while the translation will be in the right column.

I DON’T HAVE A WORD DOCUMENT AVAILABLE. CAN I STILL GET A QUOTE DONE?

Yes, we can issue a rough quote for you, and once the Word file is available we will issue an exact quote for the translation of your website. If you are based in Toronto, click here to visit our Toronto website.
