In 1647, Matthew Hopkins, the author of The Discovery of Witches, organized his book as a list of questions and answers, introduced as ‘Certain Queries Answered’. And this is not the oldest document of this type. A lot of old catechisms (13th-14th centuries) were written in the exact same question-answer format.
